Answer:

I’m working on a degree in the Studio for Interrelated Media (SIM) at MassArt in Boston. It is an excellent place for fostering extreme outside-of-the-box creativity and artwork. SIM also encourages event production skills on par with our artwork (as a way of showcasing work and also as an art form itself).

I am not yet a massively successful event producer. I spent a year running a production team out of my school and putting on a series of multi-media art events culminating in a festival. That was probably the best education I could have gotten, but I did not get paid for it. Other than that I’ve worked production and operations (the two main areas of event work) at a number of events, including a six week production gig at Telluride Film Festival. 

Its mostly about getting out there and doing it - and meeting people. If you make a good impression on people by being friendly and (most importantly) extremely hard-working, opportunities WILL arise.
